Introduction To S.S .CODE:
The Grant -in-aid system was first introduced in the year 1859 with an basic objective to promote voluntary effort and reliance on local resources in the field of education apart from such contributions as may be available from the funds of The State.
History:
After the revised Grant -in aid Code ( 1956 ) re organisation took place and the Vidarbha and Marathwada areas of the ex -Madhya Pradesh and ex- Hyderabad States ,respectively and the former States of Saurashtra and Kutch were added to the former State of Bombay.These incoming areas had their own rules governing recognition and grant -in -aid to non- Government secondary schools.There was no uniformity.So an Integration Committee for Secondary Education was appointed in 1958.The committee submitted its report in 1959.The Government of Maharashtra appointed a Committee in 1960 of officials and non officials.it was entrusted with the work of suggesting a unified code for the consideration of Government.The Committee ,after due deliberations ,prepared a revised Draft Code and submitted the same to Government in August 1961.The CODE comes into force with effect from the year 1963-64.
Secondary schools Code was reprinted in 1971.
The Code consist of 4 Chapters:
Chapter 1 - Definitions
Chapter 2.- Recognition,Organisation and Management of Schools.
Chapter 3 - Staff- Service Conditions, Records and Inspection.
Chapter 4- Grants - in -Aid.
